Below is a not too short story I asked a good friend to write. I'm actually stoked over this 'cause this is what I exactly feel for that person I call "Spud". Haha. I really don't want to kill him, this is just how I see our relationship right now. He's as good as dead to me just as I am to him I guess, or at least that's how things are turning out for the both of us. As much as I would like to remain mum about the two-year gaping hole in our patch, I have to admit that there are days when I just can't ignore it anymore. Anyhow, just read on. Hehe.
FYI, I'm Daria in the story which would be a good alter ego if having split personality disorder is my thing, LOL. And Pian isn't a fictional name or character, she's a real person, hehe. The writer just wasn't able to come up with a good nickname for her in here. I don't know why she had to be dragged into this. Haha.
To my dearest KIM, thank you for this. Love yah!

Pian was running late for work as usual. She woke up late again. Nothing new. She really didn't mind but the thought of having another incident report irked her. Oh, how she hated her job.
She sprinted towards the elevator in attempt to board it with her other tardy co-workers. Luck wasn't on her side though. She just missed the blasted thing for about 3 seconds. Again, it wasn't new so she headed straight to the express elevators, making up for lost time. She stepped out of the claustrophobic box and brisked walked through the mirrored hallway.
With 50 seconds to spare, she arrived in front of the door leading to the emergency staircase. One floor up and she'd be checking in in that bundy clock at exactly 4:45.
What she didn't expect was the horrible sight she found behind that faded blue door.
She immediately knew that there was something wrong when she pushed the door but it didn't budge. She thought she was just having those languid moments for she hadn't had breakfast yet. She attempted to open the door again, this time she made sure that she had enough force.
Then a loud scream echoed through out the hall.
She would definitely get that IR.

Police cars surrounded Pian's building. She was a complete mess. She went straight to the bathroom to throw her guts out upon seeing the mangled body blocking the doorway. Coherent thoughts were blocked out from her brain for the image of the dead body was currently imprinted on her head. Worst of all, it was her co-worker. She just had one question.
What had happened?
The cops were doing their best to control the chaotic situation that was currently transpiring at the 12 and 11th floors of the building while Pian was trying to take control of her body which was shaking profusely. What is it an accident? Did someone do that intentionally to Spud?
Of course she had no idea. All she wanted to do was to shake the vision off but it won't. She had this inexplicable feeling that she had to get the bottom of this. Accident or not.
***********************************
A week passed but Pian was still bothered by the incident. The building management miraculously toned down the issue and it didn't really cause too much unwanted attention. However, people working in that building were haunted by the thought of someone was murdered in the vicinity.
The thing that bothered her the most was that her co-workers took the news too well. Yes, they mourned for a day but that was it. Don't get her wrong, she wasn't close to Spud or with anybody else for that matter, but it ticked her off in some way.
The only person she had shared her thoughts with was her seatmate Daria. Sure, they were friends and they have a good relationship. Pian was always comfortable being around the girl but sometimes, Daria was a bit weird.
Daria usually gives off a negative aura which was the reason why Pian was reluctant to speak to the girl at first. Her co-workers, apparently had the same thought so Daria doesn't really have friends, except for Spud and Jane. She was not really a social person so Pian had this feeling that she was kind of special to be friends with Daria.
They've gotten closer over the years and Daria somewhat opened up to her. Pian learned about how Daria, Jane, and Spud became friends up until their fall out. Daria was still friends with Jane though but Spud was out of the picture.
"Hey, don't you think it's weird?"
"What?" Daria coldly replied with a deep voice.
"No one was really sad about Spud passing away. He was kinda popular when he was... you know... alive." Pian carefully pointed out.
Daria shrugged her shoulders, "That's coz he's a jerk." Pian furrowed her eyebrows. She knew that her two co-workers didn't have a harmonius relationship and they acted like both of them didn't exist in their worlds.
"Did he do anything to you?" Pian asked out of curiosity.
"No." Daria simply said.
After that awkward conversation, Pian didn't try to mention the incident.
**************************
It was Friday, another boring day at the office. Pian was trying to do her work when Daria suddenly spoke.
"Is there an update about Spud's murder?" Pian was caught off guard by the question. She thought Daria wouldn't like to talk about it.
"Nope. Haven't heard anything." Pian casually replied.
"Oh good." Daria said uncharacteristically.
"Why? What's up?"
"Nothing. I just don't want to be the last one to know in case something new comes up."
"Alright." And that dismissed the conversation.
******************************
After several weeks, Pian was beyond surprised when she found out that the police were searching for her. They still asked her about the same questions regarding the body. How there was blood everywhere, how it seemed like the guy was pushed to his death, and how unusual that he immediately died because he had this strong built and whoever pushed him must be bigger than him.
Pian felt a little annoyed because they won't seem to make forget about the horrible experience. It's bad enough that the incident would haunt her forever. They just won't stop questioning her.
That night, she dreamt about the murder scene. Well figures. She'd been trying to get rid of that memory but besides the police, her brain didn't want to as well. What was the reason for this?
When she woke up in cold sweat, she definitely answered that question.
***********************
"It was you isn't it? You killed Spud." It wasn't a question. It's a statement. Pian found herself confronting Daria on the same staircase the former found the body.
"What are you talking about?" Daria asked but her tone was too high for her own liking.
"You murdered him." Pian said with confidence.
"That's crazy. Why would you even think that?"
"Because you don't like him."
Daria's eyebrows shooted up. "Wow detective. That's one hell of a deduction. Sometimes I don't like you too but I didn't murder you."
"I'm not yet finished." Pian said annoyed at the interruption.
"Go ahead." The shorter girl challenged.
"Remember that day, before he was killed. You said that you'd make ammends with him. You even said that you'd buy him coffee."
"So?"
"So. You were the last person that could have been with him." Daria rolled her eyes and Pian stood her ground.
"You don't have proof! Why are you even accusing me?" Daria became defensive all of a sudden.
"I have proof and you're wearing it right now!"
Daria immediately darted her eyes to the bracelet she was wearing which Pian didn't fail to notice. "Why are you looking at your bracelet Daria?"
The shorter girl glared at her co-worker. Pian feared that she would be in some kind of trouble. No one knew they were there. IF Daria will kill her then she would end up like Spud.
Pian kept her eyes locked with Daria despite the amount of fear she was trying to suppress. The other girl also held her gaze but she didn't show any sign of aggressiveness. Pian watched as Daria's face slowly showed sorrow.
"I didn't mean to do it you know." Pian didn't expect the sudden confession. She thought that Daria would throw a fit. She thought she was a goner. But it seemed that her friend wanted to get caught.
"I've liked Spud ever since we were young. It's obvious that I don't like people that much but not him. He's the exception." Daria took a deep breath and continued. "I always wanted to be around him. I tried to make him notice me but of course he had to be in a relationship with someone else." Pian felt really bad for Daria but she didn't say anything.
"I want to settle things with him that day. It really took all of me to be in the same room as him. And you can just imagine how I felt when we were talking face to face." Daria was close to tears now. "I told him I wanted to be friends again. That I want everything back to normal. But he refused."
***************************
flashback
"I want to us to be okay again." Daria said meekly, afraid of rejection.
"No. We can't." Spud countered.
"I'm not doing this for you okay? I'm doing this for your mom. She thinks that I can help you with your problem. I disagree but I can't say no to her." Spud was surprised how calm his co-worker was.
"I can't be friends with you and I don't need your help." The guy stubbornly said and Daria was really trying not get pissed off.
"Why?"
"Because I like you!" Spud blurted out. His chest was heaving and he was clearly upset. "I don't want to cheat on my girlfriend and I can't do that if we are friends!" Daria was rendered speechless. This wasn't she expected. Not at all.

Why did Daria kill Spud? What was her motive?
Classic case of open ended story. LOL
You decide the ending.
TROLL. :D
